via Daily Prompt: Snack

I love to snack!  Popcorn, pickles, oranges, cheese, nuts, or ice cream, I could go on and on.  I like to snack because it’s easy.  Quick and simple, it doesn’t take a lot of effort and brings instant gratification.

It’s a sweet deal.

I also love to snack on scripture.  Having a Bible app on my phone to send me verses throughout the day lets me snack on scripture.  Quick and simple, it doesn’t take a lot of effort and brings instant gratification.

It’s a sweet deal.

snack.  noun.  A small amount of food eaten between meals.
Snacks are only fulfilling if we are eating them between full meals.  It’s the same with scripture.  If we want a fulfilling spiritual snack, we must have a healthy appetite and daily meal time with God.
There isn’t too much that we are willing to let take our 3 meals a day away.  We may push back the time an hour or two when we have to but we do not let the things of the world stop us from eating.  We get hungry and we eat!  EVERY. DAY.  It’s a priority to keep up our strength and that’s a good thing!
How much more strength do we gain when we apply the same need to feeding on scripture?
We become what we eat.  When our souls are well, it is because we are feeding on the Word of God.  It creates a delightful joy in our heart!
Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.  Jeremiah 15:16
Ask God to make you hunger for His Word.  He will do it!  Then do your part and go enjoy the meal!
Don’t miss out on moments of refreshment by snacking on God’s Word all throughout the day!
