God never lets me stay comfortable very long. He is always prodding me to trust Him with more. A little while back I was asked if I would be able to help with the children’s ministry at my church. I love kids! They also scare me. I never felt comfortable taking responsibility for such precious cargo. But I have a 10 year old child that has grown more spirituality in the last year that I could have ever dreamed possible. I’m so thankful for our amazing children’s church workers! So I said, “YES”. The great thing about having the gift of helps is that it compensates in areas where you have no experience, and the Holy Spirit will lead you in all you need to know. I’m responsible for the games. The Lord knows what we can do, and what He needs to make sure someone else is doing! He gave me a partner that loves to teach, and she does a fantastic job. Our strengths and weaknesses work perfectly together for our current assignment. I have learned a few things about our youth that has changed me. First, they are great kids. Not so scary at all, and they don’t bite! They have the kindest hearts and a real love for people. Second, they are hungry for God. They get it! They are going to change the world. Third, they are so smart! They are like little sponges that soak up everything in the room. They were encouraged to go around this week looking for five ways to make a difference in someone’s life. Because of them being so young, I hesitated to say a number as high as five. But I didn’t even have a plan to challenge them! The Holy Spirit knows they can do it, and I believe they will rise to the challenge! We were playing a game and the Holy Spirit started to move through the fun and completely enhance it and HE challenged these kids to go be the world changers He is calling them to be. It really is true that the Lord qualifies the called. We don’t have to know how to do everything right before we say “YES”. If we can just be a willing vessel and be open to Him moving, He always shows up and makes the BEST things happen.
