Definition of rube
1: an awkward unsophisticated person
2: a naive or inexperienced person
This is a great word to describe how I feel right now. I have been overwhelmed with not understanding how the world can be such a tragic place and at the same I understand exactly why the world is like it is today.
My heart is so burdened and as an intercessor I should be comfortable, sophisticated, or at least experienced at praying for tragic things by now. But I find myself feeling like I have no words, and no idea how to pray for the state of sin that our world is drowning in. Some days I feel so out of my league. Its on these days that I must remember to rest in Him and know that its not my strength that is accomplishing anything, but Him working through me by His grace. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit praying through me when I don’t know what to pray, and for Jesus interceding on my behalf. Sometimes, I just want to curl up in a ball and cry out to God, repenting for all of us getting it so wrong.
We are living in exciting times. God is raising up world changers and we have to remember that the bigger the call, the bigger the challenges that will come. But God is so faithful, and He is excellent at working through awkward, inexperienced people who give Him the opportunity. I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m so grateful to be usable even when I feel like a rube!
We need to be a light in the darkness. We must pray. The world needs intercessors to push through and be faithful. Florida needs us to pray. Children need us to pray. We all need us to pray. Because prayer DOES change things. If everyone that calls themselves a Christian would humble themselves and pray, our land would be healed suddenly.
Isn’t that what we all want?
Do you wonder what your calling is? Are you wondering what God destined you to do? I can’t answer that for you, but I promise you that it includes prayer. We are all called to pray. We must pray. If you want to walk in your calling, start with prayer. When we put one foot in front of the other and do the next right thing, it opens the door to the next thing and then the next and so forth. I challenge you to take that first step and pray purposeful prayers. Pray prayers that challenge your faith. Pray prayers that only God can answer.
